Surface Treatment--Dacromet

      Dacromet is a metal surface treatment method. It was originally developed by Michael Martin, an American scientist, and then transferred to DIAMOND SHAMROK. It is a new member of the anti-corrosion system of metal surface. It has been patented in the United States, Europe, Japan and other parts of the world. DIAMOND SHAMROK Co., Ltd. established NIPPON DACERO SHAMROK in 1973 in a joint venture with Japan Oil Company. The company, or NDS for short, has established DACRAL in Europe and France. They divide the world market into three major markets: Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Americas, each responsible for a region and seeking common interests worldwide.
      Due to its incomparable advantages of traditional electroplating, it has been rapidly introduced to the world international market. After more than 30 years of continuous development and improvement, Dacromet technology has formed a complete surface treatment system, which is widely used in anti-corrosion treatment of metal parts, especially in large automobile manufacturing companies such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Fuji, Mitsubishi and so on. Designated automotive parts must be treated with Dacromet technology. Besides automotive industry, electric power, construction, shipping, railway, household appliances and other industries are also gradually adopting this technology to deal with anti-corrosion components. Since 1993, China has introduced this technology from NDS Company, mainly painting equipment and painting technology. Paints were not purchased from Japan at that time.
      The characteristics of Dacromet process technology:
1. Non-pollution
The Dacromet treatment method does not undergo acid pickling and phosphating, nor does it discharge waste liquid and gas, nor does it cause pollution hazards to the ingredients.
2. Hydrogen-free embrittlement
Generally, pickling process is used in electroplating process, which results in hydrogen embrittlement of workpiece, seriously affecting the quality of high strength parts. Dacromet has no hydrogen embrittlement because of no pickling process.
3. High corrosion resistance
Although the thickness of Dacromet film is only 6-8 microns, its anticorrosive effect on steel parts is 6-10 times higher than that of galvanized parts. (Salt spray test is no rust in 240-1000 hours).
4. High heat resistance
After treatment with Dacromet, the heat resistance can reach 300-500 degrees, which is much higher than that of common galvanizing and organic coatings.
5. High permeability
Dacromet treatment is an invasive coating method, which is not restricted by complex workpieces.
6. Stronger adhesion than organic coatings
Dacromet coating has strong adhesion and is easy to be sprayed and colored.
7. Excellent Weatherability and Drug Resistance
Dacromet treatment components can be used for a long time with the coast, air pollution areas are inviolable, for a variety of cleaning agents, paint, chemical stability and insolubility.
Coating structure and anti-rust mechanism
Dacromet coating looks very much like galvanized, but it is not galvanized, it is a kind of coating, after coating, baked to a silver-white metal coating, it is basically composed of inorganic substances.
1. The coating is composed of multi-layer scaly zinc and aluminium, which are bonded by glass-ceramics. The dual functions control the infiltration of water and oxygen into the surface of the matrix, and provide good barrier protection for the steel matrix.
2. Hexavalent chromium in the solution passivates the zinc-aluminium layer and inhibits the corrosion rate.
3. Because of the high oxidation potential, the zinc sheet in the coating can act as sacrificial anode protection in the oxidation process.
Many Dacromet paint manufacturers in China are able to manufacture as few as NDS in Japan, mainly because the layers of metal sheets in the coatings after burning are very flat. All our Dacromet products can basically meet this requirement.
